Day 1
Leave Plett in the morning and travel the scenic route to George, stopping at the spectacular Map of Africa above the hills of the Kaaimans River in Wilderness.
We take the old Outeniqua Pass to Oudtshoorn, on to the Cango Caves with its impressive limestone formations, sculptured by nature, in a variety of illuminated colours. Next stop is an ostrich farm.
Then on to the Port Capital of South Africa, Calitzdorp, where you can sample many of the finest ports and sweet wines, as well as a wide variety of reds and whites. Overnight at the most beautiful and quaint little B & B in Calitzdorp, Welgevonden, situated on a small Chardonnay wine farm. Sample more of the spectacular wines around a traditional South African braai.
Day 2
Travel the famous Route 62, the scenic alternative to the N2 highway.

Next stop will be the Fairview Wine Estate in Paarl, where you can enjoy a tasting selection of 6 different wines with dedicated hosts to guide and assist you. These are tasted at the deli, allowing guests to enjoy their wine and then move across to the cheese section as they seek out interesting pairings and their particular favourites.

Day 1
We leave Plett in the morning and travel the scenic route to George, stopping at the spectacular Map of Africa, above the hills of the Kaaimans River in Wilderness.
The old Outeniqua Pass, through Oudtshoorn and then on to the quaint little village of De Rust, with its tree-lined street and beautiful guest houses.
The magnificent Meiringspoort Pass is 25 km long, with 25 interestingly named drifts to traverse, each with their own story. A stop to view the fabled Meiringspoort waterfall. If you are lucky, you might even spot the mythical Karoo Mermaid! The majestic cliffs constantly change colour throughout the day. This pass is truly beautiful as the road follows the river bed, until we reach the little Karoo town of Klaarstroom (in the Groot Karoo). We wind our way to the picturesque little town of Prince Albert. Over night at the Swartberg Hotel, built in 1864 and beautifully restored to its Victorian splendour. Relax with an ice cold beer on the vine covered verandah, followed by dinner in the Victoria room, enjoying their speciality Karoo lamb.
Day 2
Breakfast and then on to Thomas Bain’s masterpiece of engineering, the Swartberg Pass, built with the help of convicts, . Much of this pass is part of the Unesco World Heritage site. On descending the pass, we arrive at the Cango Caves, with its impressive limestone formations, sculptured by nature, in a variety of colours.
A visit to an ostrich farm in Oudtshoorn, after which we will travel on to the Port Capital of South Africa – Calitzdorp, where we can sample many of the finest ports and sweet wines, as well as a wide variety of reds and whites. Overnight at the most beautiful and quaint little B & B in Calitzdorp, Welgevonden, situated on a small Chardonnay wine farm. Sample some of the superb wines around a traditional South African braai.
Day 3
Enter the Pakhuis Pass and travel on to one of the most stunning passes in South Africa, the Seweweeks Poort Pass. The gravel road follows the river bed, with the ever changing granite cliffs – truly beautiful! Arrive at Matjiesfontein, the British outpost during the Boer War, steeped in history.

There is a wide range of wines available to choose from, including a selection from the single vineyard range. Kirstenbosch Botanical Gardens: Kirstenbosch is South Africa’s world-famous national botanical garden, set against the backdrop of Table Mountain and Devil’s Peak, and home to more than 22 000 indigenous plants. Day 5
Table Mountain Cableway: Table Mountain is officially one of the new 7 Wonders of Nature. Explore this natural wonder – it will be an unforgettable experience!
